The Asia Pacific Evaluation Association (APEA) is pleased to announce its upcoming Inaugural APEA International Evaluation Conference (APEAConf2016) from 21 - 25 November 2016 in Hanoi, Vietnam. Registrations are now open at:  http://www.asiapacific-evaluation.org/apeaconf2016/component/gcvmes/?view=register

The APEAConf2016 is the first regional conference with a special focus on the SDGs and Evaluation.  The SDGs were launched in 2015 and have great significance for development efforts globally.  However, compared to the MDGs, the SDGs pose greater challenges in terms of achieving the planned targets.  The experiences from the MDGs have shown that we will need to be more innovative in finding new approaches and methods to ensure the success of the SDGs.  APEA believes that evaluation and an integrated results-based management (IRBM) environment holds the key to the success of the SDGs compared to the MDGs.  Thus we are focusing the conference on how evaluation can make a difference for the success of the SDGs within an IRBM environment.

Secondly, APEA feels that one year after the launch of the SDGs, we should be able to take stock of our progress, issues, challenges, and way forward to making progress with the SDGs.  It is also one year after the launch of the International Year of Evaluation.  Both these events and the timing is significant.
